Our Fees
Sessions at Mindspan Clinic are approximately 50 minutes and charged at $250. To ensure accessibility to good quality and affordable health care, the fees charged by the practice have been reduced from the Australian Psychological Society's (APS) recommended fee of $311 for a 50-minute psychology consultation.
Fees and What to Expect
Initial Appointment
The aim of the initial assessment is to get to know you better, gain an understanding of your concerns, and explore your goals for therapy. During the assessment, Dr. Amy will ask you about your presenting difficulties and symptoms, history, and previous treatment. She may also ask you to fill out additional questionnaires about your experiences and symptoms. At the end of the session, treatment options (e.g., therapeutic approach and frequency of ongoing sessions) will be discussed with you.
Subsequent Appointments
Subsequent sessions maintain a balance of helping you gain insight and understanding into your difficulties, and learning new skills and strategies to manage these difficulties. Most people find 6 to 15 sessions helpful. However, both short-term and long-term options are available depending on your needs and preferences.

Fees
A standard session is approximately 50 minutes, which is charged at $250. After-hours sessions (after 5pm) are charged at a higher rate of $270 for a 50-minute session. The Medicare rebate available for each session is $141.85.

Case management consultations (e.g., phone calls with other health professionals, teachers, school counsellors etc.) are billed at $125 per 25 minutes or $250 per 50 minutes. Fees for reports are also charged at the session rate. These are not claimable through Medicare.
Payment is due at the time of the session. The practice only accepts debit or credit card payments, which are processed electronically. All major cards are accepted except Diners. To process fee payment, clients will be asked to complete a credit card authorisation form as part of the online intake form.
A referral is not required for an appointment at the practice, however, most clients are eligible to receive a rebate from Medicare. To receive this rebate, a referral letter and a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from a general practitioner, psychiatrist, or paediatrician is required. With a MHTP, you can claim a Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session with a clinical psychologist, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year (from January 1st to December 31st).

Medicare rebates are processed by the practice at the same time as session fees. The rebate is paid directly to the bank account that you have provided Medicare.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
We accept clients with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS funding. For self-managed clients, sessions are charged at the standard session rate ($250 before 5pm or $270 after 5pm). For plan-managed clients, sessions are charged at $222.99, as per the 2024-2025 NDIS price guide.
Private Health Funds
If you are covered for psychological services under your private health fund, you are entitled to claim for these services. The claimable amount per session and the number of sessions per calendar year depends on your private health care plan. Please check with your health fund regarding your exact cover.

Unfortunately, we are unable to process transactions with private health insurance. However, you will be provided with an invoice at the end of each session, which you can use to organise rebates with your insurance provider.

Please note that you cannot claim from Medicare and your private health fund for the same session.
Cancellation Fees
A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required for appointments to be rescheduled or cancelled. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will attract a 50% cancellation fee and sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice (including non-attendance) will attract a 100% cancellation fee.

Please note that cancellation fees cannot be claimed through Medicare or your private health fund.
